Maria Papadopouli (Ph.D., Columbia University, 2002) is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Crete and at the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas. She has been a Fulbright Scholar at CSAIL, MIT and a guest Professor at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.
From July 2002 until June 2004, she was a tenure-track Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has co-authored a monograph, Peer-to-Peer Computing for Mobile Networks: Information Discovery and Dissemination (Springer, 2009). She has given more than 35 invited talks in research labs and universities worldwide.
In 2004 and 2005, she was awarded an IBM Faculty Award, and in 2013 a Google Faculty Award. Her research was also funded by a national Research Excellence grant (2012-2015) and recently received the Comcast Innovation Fund.
